It’s been a great year for us at Community Music.
We released Soko’s I Thought I Was An Alien on January 22nd, Edward Sharpe’s self-titled album on July 23rd, My Hawaii’s Definition of Friends on August 20th, and All Is Lost’s Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on October 1st. Community Music’s charitable wing, Community Projects, released Beatles Reimagined on October 1st.
Edward Sharpe released their third album and toured extensively throughout the year all over the world. Some highlights included headlining Red Rocks in May and The Hollywood Bowl in August. They also held a Big Top festival in October for four days at Los Angeles State Historic Park.
Alex Ebert received a Golden Globes Best Original Score nomination for All Is Lost! You can watch him rehearse “Amen” here:
2014 is going to be an exciting year for crash. He is a member of Edward Sharpe and will release his debut solo album Hardly Criminal next year. Check out his performance of “Mad At The Clouds” on Conan here.
Aaron Embry has been playing shows in the Southern California area and composed music for James Franco’s Child of God. You can watch him perform “Tiny Prayers” for Jam In The Van here:
My Hawaii, led by Yohei Shikano, who used to be Edward Sharpe’s sound tech, released their debut EP “Definition of Friends”. They’ve played with Majical Cloudz, Au Revoir Simone, and many others. They recently performed on Balcony TV and you can check it out here:
